What is Nellie’s Café and Bar? What do you do?

We are a team of many talents! Listed below are some of our services we provide:

Bar service for any event (Wedding ceremony/reception, birthdays, product launches etc)

Café – We can be hired as a café or be called out to a corporate event. Please contact us for pricing. Not all corporate events require a call out fee if there is a sustainable amount of customers wishing to purchase coffee.

Waiters and waitresses – Sorry Nellie but sometimes we just want your staff and not you even though you are the prettiest van we ever did see! If you wish to just have staff assist in catering your event, please contact us for a quote.

Birthday parties – We can turn Nellie into a cute ice cream, soft drink serving beast! There is no limitation to your imagination. You want it, Nellie can do it!


High tea – We do a lot of high teas. They are fun, different and lets be honest, ADORABLE! This can be a just because, or for a bridal shower. We come to you. The most popular is in a public park (please read below if you wish to have in a public park)


Product launch – Nellie can be hired out empty. This means you can decorate her inside and out. Have your products on display.


Advertising – Do you want to put temporary signage on Nellie and have her looking might fine? Contact us for a quote.



Nellie is very simple with her food as we are not set up for meals as such.

We can make awesome desserts, grazing platters (anywhere from 30pp to 300pp!) We also do sandwiches and wraps.



What’s included when you hire Nellie for bar service?

Nellie will arrive at your event approximately one hour early. This gives us time to set up and make sure the drinks are ice cold by the time your guests arrive.

We supply all glassware and crockery. 20kg of ice is included in every bar service package.

Nellie’s style is classic and rustic themed. Nellie looks good everywhere and anywhere but if you have a specific theme in mind, please let us know! Nellie loves to dress up!

Do we provide the alcohol?

Nellie’s bar has two different packages for bar service.

1. BYO. You provide the alcohol and we serve it. We can serve anything but ask that if you choose to have cocktails that there is a limit of two. All beverages must be chilled prior to our grand arrival. As we only arrive one hour prior to the event starting time, this does not allow adequate time for them to be icy cold. This is the most popular option as it makes it more cost affordable instead of having a markup on your alcohol.


2.We provide the alcohol. Nellie’s Café and Bar have a liquor licence. To have this package you advise what kind of drinks you would like and we provide them. Minimum $1000 has to be put over the bar for this package. You can then choose if you would like us to keep serving over this amount or if you would like the guests to pay their own way. The alcohol retails at rough club prices. You can enquire about specific pricing upon booking. We also arrive to your event with the drinks already cooled and good to go!


Due to our limited space we ask that all rubbish is to be removed by our wonderful clients. We will bag or box up all rubbish and put it neatly in a area for disposal the next day. If this does not suit we can take the rubbish with us when we leave. This service is $150.00.

Do we serve COFFEE?

As a cafe we certainly do. If you would like barista made coffee served with your bar service you will need a hot drink package. 

 Our coffee is sourced locally and is barista made on site.

Do we offer table service?

We sure do! We mainly serve from the van but occasionally we will pop around to ensure your guests are well ‘hydrated’.  We do like to mingle with your guests and enjoy the party too!

If you would like fulltime table service, please let us know as we will require a extra staff member to act as a waiter/tress.

Nellie’s Café and Bar staff will also be wandering around picking up the empty glasses and bottles, ensuring the focus is all about your special event.


We require access to either a 10 or 15amp power point. If it is a bit far, we have a 30m extension cord! If there is no power, please advise in advance. There will be a fee for a generator hire.

Where will Nellie’s travel to?

Nellie is located in Canberra– but who doesn’t love a little road trip! Let us know where your event is located and add us to your guest list.

Included in the cost of any service is a 50 kilometer radius from our location in Canberra. Additional travel occurs a cost of $1.50 per kilometer. Good old Google maps is used as a reference to determine the distance between the base and event location.

Do you have Public Liability insurance?

Yes, up to 20mil!

Are our bar staff trained?

Absolutely! All our crew have their Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) training. We also love a chit chat and you can be assured your guest will always receive amazing, professional customer service.

Once you have a date in mind please contact us to secure your event date, a 50% deposit is required at the time of booking.

The remaining balance is due 14 days prior to your event date, we’ll send a friendly reminder.

Do you have cancellation fees?

Unfortunately yes!

Once your date is confirmed and your deposit taken, we are committed to YOUR event… We do not consider any other bookings despite the requests we might get.

Please note all 50% deposits are non- refundable.

My event is on public land!

If your event is not at a private residence or venue, you are responsible for all the appropriate approvals and permits required and must provide confirmation of this to our team prior to your event. We can guide you in the right direction if you require help.

How big is Nellie?

We need room to fit Nellie approx. 4.5m long, 3m wide and 2.5m tall!

Upon booking your special event we require a 50% non refundable deposit to lock in the date. 

Roughly 2 weeks before your event we will email or call you to finalise any details and also accept the remainder of the invoice.

Payment can be made via credit card or direct deposit.
